A retrospective analysis of outcome of endoscopic management in choledocholithiasis in a tertiary care centre

Background: The role of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as a therapeutic intervention for choledocholithiasis is long established. Endoscopic therapy involves stone extraction using conventional methods after performing biliary sphincterotomy. objective this study was to determine the outcome patients with being treated in our setup.Methods: This retrospective observational conducted at T.N.M.C. and BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai from January 2017 October 2017. All proven radiologically were admitted. underwent elective cholangiopancreatography. In whom ERCP failed, open surgical clearance common bile duct done.Results: A total 50 cases admitted during period. Age distribution 27 years 81 which, 46% males 54% females. Successful CBD balloon sweep, dormia basket, stenting or sphincterotomy alone done 38 (76%). Nine (18%) required repeat ERCP/ more than one sitting CBD. Most had size >10 mm (8 out 9 i.e. 88.89%).
